<\/o:p><\/font><\/span><\/em><\/strong>Risoluzione non passa per soli tre voti<\/o:p><\/font><\/span><\/em><\/strong>\u00a0<\/font><\/o:p><\/span>\u00a0<\/font><\/o:p><\/span><\/o:p><\/span>\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/o:p><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/font><\/span><\/font><\/p>\n

Non \u00e8 passata, purtroppo, la proposta di risoluzione promossa dai\u00a0 <\/span>gruppi socialdemocratico, verde e liberale nel Parlamento europeo in difesa della libert\u00e0 di informazione in Italia.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/font>\u00a0<\/font><\/o:p><\/span>La bella notizia \u00e8 che lo scarto \u00e8 veramente minimo, su 686 eurodeputati 335 hanno votato a\u00a0 <\/span>favore, 338 contro e 13 si sono astenuti.<\/o:p><\/font><\/span>\u00a0<\/font><\/o:p><\/span>C\u2019\u00e8 quindi una met\u00e0 del Parlamento europeo che fortunatamente si preoccupa della minaccia al pluralismo e alla libert\u00e0 di informazione in un paese europeo e siamo sicuri che nelle prossime settimane e mesi si adoperer\u00e0 al massimo perch\u00e9 il tema continui a essere oggetto di analisi e discussione in seno al Parlamento e nella societ\u00e0 in tutta Europa.<\/o:p><\/font><\/span>\u00a0<\/font><\/o:p><\/span>E si delinea anche un compito importante ora per noi che facciamo bloginformazione e attivit\u00e0 politica, ed \u00e8 quello di scoprire perch\u00e9 met\u00e0 dell\u2019Europarlamento ritiene che la videocrazia non \u00e8 una minaccia alla democrazia e che forse ha dimenticato a cosa ha portato solo 70 anni fa la concentrazione di potere in poche mani, il pensiero unico, l\u2019assenza di informazione pluralista, il controllo pressoch\u00e9 totale sui grandi mezzi di comunicazione.<\/o:p><\/font><\/span>\u00a0<\/font><\/o:p><\/span>Ora sappiamo chi in Europa sta dalla parte della libert\u00e0 di informazione e chi no. <\/o:p><\/font><\/span>\u00a0<\/font><\/o:p><\/span>Ora sappiamo chi sta dalla parte dei cittadini e chi dalla parte del potere mediatico.<\/o:p><\/font><\/span>\u00a0<\/font><\/o:p><\/span>\u00a0<\/font><\/o:p><\/span>Allego il comunicato stampa del Gruppo Verde del Parlamento Europeo<\/o:p><\/font><\/span>21.10.2009<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Freedom of the press: EU Parliament snuffs out resolutions on press freedom in Italy and Europe<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/font><\/font><\/em><\/h1>\n


\nA right-wing majority in the European Parliament today succeeded \u2013 by a very narrow margin \u2013 in rejecting tabled resolutions addressing press freedom in Italy and Europe.<\/font><\/span><\/o:p><\/span>Greens\/EFA President Rebecca Harms<\/span><\/strong> and Dutch Green MEP Judith Sargentini<\/span><\/strong>, EP civil liberties committee member and co-author of the Greens\/EFA Resolution (1), said:<\/o:p><\/font><\/span>“This is a black day for press freedom in Europe. We are bitterly disappointed that a right-wing majority of Conservatives, Christian Democrats and Eurosceptics has succeeded in rejecting EU Parliament resolutions in support of press freedom in Italy and Europe. A call for a EU Directive against concentration of media ownership has therefore been silenced. The votes were very tight but send a far-reaching message that contradicts the fundamental values of the European Union.<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/o:p><\/span>Silvio Berlusconi’s control of both government and media in Italy is profoundly undemocratic. A recent court judgment against Berlusconi’s media company and a ridiculous attempt by a Berlusconi channel to discredit the judge are further proof, if any was needed. (2)<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/o:p><\/span>While Italy’s problems certainly stand out, the proposed EU Parliament resolutions addressed the EU as a whole.
